Many thanks to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning to help put the gardens to bed for the winter. We cut back, divided, transplanted, pulled, planted, dumped, raked, swept, sawed and spread until the gardens sparkled! A very good effort. The pond is closed and all the bags picked up. A job well done thanks to our dedicated volunteers.

This spring, the Friends of The Old Seed House Garden are holding a special fundraising event for the first time in 9 years. The historic stone wall in the garden is crumbling, and we find ourselves short of the funds to have it restored by our stone mason. To help with the costs, there is a theatre night benefit performance of “Sylvia” by Georgetown Little Theatre on April 12th at 8:00 p.m. at the restored, historic Acton Town Hall. (Very charming, with a beautiful new grand entry addition.)
Sylvia by A.R. Gurney by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
This hilarious romantic comedy is about a middle aged couple who have decided after 22 years of child-rearing in the suburbs to enjoy their preretirement years by moving to the big city for some fun and freedom. However, their plans are disrupted when Greg brings home Sylvia, an incredibly womanlike canine. Trouble arises with two females in the same household both vying for Greg’s attention, especially when he seems to prefer the dog.
The cost is $30 and includes a reception with wine, cheese, coffee after the performance – the cast of the play will attend the reception.
- The Acton Town Hall is located at 19 Willow Street North, Acton. Tickets are available at:
- Bergsma’s (Georgetown Marketplace Mall)
- Foodstuffs
- The Theatre Box Office
- The Georgetown Library

Once again this year DG Green Houses generously donated all the annuals for the garden. On Saturday volunteers from Friends of the Old Seed House Garden were on hand to do the spring planting and the Georgetown Independent was there to report on the event.
