Fall 2025

Another colourful year at the Garden is nearly over. Despite the hot, dry weather, the Garden looks outstanding. We have received so many positive comments.

Music in the Garden was a big success again this year. Hope you were able to attend some of the concerts. There was a wide range of music playing in the gazebo on Sunday afternoons. Diane started organizing these events in February and it was rewarding to hear the results.

As you drive along Maple Ave, your eye is drawn to the lovely flowers around the entrance pillars of the Garden. Laura does a great job making this a warm welcome to the rest of the Garden.

Our bulletin board on the kiosk is kept up to date with garden tips, things going on in the Garden and more. Diane artfully creates and updates these displays many times a year.

From the kiosk, look right and you see the beautiful row of bright red Begonias outlining a long narrow garden backing against the walled garden. Tony has done a super job maintaining the border & the many perennials. That garden is a real show stopper. He is also kept busy trimming shrubs & trees as needed.

The sunken garden was “kind of wild” in a good way – with brillant coloured Zinnias & Cleomi.  It is wonderful to visit that garden & see the kids looking for frogs & fish.

Let’s go back to the kiosk. To the left, you will see the large, sloped rock garden. Wayne likes to play in it & keep it constantly blooming. There are so many different plants in it, including a Cactus that survives over the winter. See if you can find the Cactus!

Cross the bridge & to your right, you will see our magnolia gardens. We call them that as there are two magnolia trees in each of those gardens. They are so pretty when covered in white bloom & below them are yellow lilies. In the summer, there are bright Geraniums & Marigolds that Laura plants.

The garden by the gazebo is ready for a long winters nap but in the spring it is amazing. First there are pastels Lupins & later brilliant hybrid Lilies. Gord is our Lily wizard with help from Johanna.

The formal garden is a riot of colour. The Lavender around the gardens has bloomed twice. Our Zinnias were not supposed to be as tall, but they do make a wonderful show. Next year we will try to “control” them so they do not take over. People are saying that they love the look of the garden.

The lovely planter in the middle of the formal garden changes each season, From Spring Pansies, Summer & Fall flowers to a winter display – Frances & Diane enjoy doing it.

It often seems that Donna is hiding but she is always busy looking after many of the gardens around the edges – the Hydrangea gardens on the path near the pond, the big rock garden on Maple Ave., the Look Out garden, & the long garden facing Maple Ave.

Besides the “friends” that have been mentioned we have Gail, Jamie, Judy, Pete, Sue & Rob, hard at work.

We hope that you can tell that we are a hard working & friendly team. We would love to have you join us. We are at the Garden on Tuesday mornings from 9 – noon. No experience is necessary.

Looking Forward to seeing you at the Gardens.
