2026 Winter Newsletter
Happy New Year everyone. 2026 has arrived. We hope everyone has enjoyed a very good holiday season with family and friends.
Our gardens are asleep. You can sit back, relax and enjoy winter views of trees and shrubs throughout your garden.
Spring arrives in just two months (meteorological spring begins March 1).
There are a few things you can do in the winter to prepare for your garden season:
- Now is a good time to plan any changes you want to make to your garden.
- Put your seed and plant orders in for ornamentals or vegetables.
- Take care of your garden tools.
- Clean and sharpen spades and shovels.
- Clean, disinfect and oil secateurs.
- Prune oak trees to prevent spread of oak wilt disease.
- Inspect saved bulbs etc. for signs of mold or rot.
- If you have bird feeders keep them topped up especially in very cold weather.
Planning is already underway for the Dominion Gardens.
- Spring cleanup date: to be announced
- Spring annuals planting date: to be announced
Volunteers are always welcome. No experience required. Donations are always welcome to help us buy plants and garden tools.
Looking Forward to seeing you at the Gardens.
